He dangled a carrot and then cruelly withdrew it

I was just asking what the term meant to see if it could be applied in this case

er DBTS you have read the saturday morning thread??? all the exciting things happen when Mr P has gone to bed at his parties,and therest of us think its fun to stay up till 6am then get about 3 hours sleep when Mr P gets up completely awake!

I think so!

I tend to fade about 3 in the morning so go to bed - party carries on in a sleepy drunken way. I get up early the next morning and laugh at everyone!
