My late mother used to regularly quote 'What did Horace say?' and I had no idea until now where it came from.

I remember the quote as "What did Horace say, Winnie?" Winnie was one of the "daughters"

Elsie and Doris, aka, 'Gert and Daisy' had a nephew at CH during my time.

I met them both, along with PC Dixon, aka Jack Warner who was also related.

Perhaps the fact that Elsie and Doris Waters were Jack Warner's (real name Horace Waters) sisters may have had something to do with that.

This has nothing to do with the previous topic, but has anyone ever heard of a game called "Boots, Shoes, Tips and Nails" ? I remember my Grandmother playing it with me when I was small - and it was a game on paper , like Hangman/ Noughts and Crosses/ Boxes etc. She was born in 1898 - so I guess it was at least Victorian, but I've never been able to find anything on the internet etc. Just fishing to see if any Brits may have heard of it.

Many of us have watched the Swan Lake ballet, but never like the Chinese State Circus does it.

Look on youtube for anything by Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo - that's ballet as you've never quite seen it before :D It would just be slapstick (and not funny) if they weren't skilled ballet dancers already.

Try these for starters:

We saw them live a couple of years ago and it was a brilliant evening's entertainment.

Following the link from this, I have just thoroughly enjoyed watching The Clangers Music of the Spheres! When a famous film actor dies, there is usually a rerun of several of his films on television; please could we have a rerun of the Clangers in memory of Oliver Postgate, who died not long ago?
