Who knows they certainly wouldn't have met if they hadn't gone to CH. Well done to the both of them, what an amazing achievement something they'll remember forever no doubt!! In tribute to their achievement tonight the rugby club social is going to have a mountaineering theme!! Not the same thing I know but in the spirit of things!!

Absolutely fantastic news - good luck to them both for the return journey, and look forward to hearing all about it.
Cracking achievement - I felt "well-chuffed" for them, and many at work were hugely impressed when I bored them about it!

Same here.
The lad I work with is the same age and was 'well impressed'

The womens rugby team were also suitably impressed and would like to say well done to the pair of them and good luck on the descent!

In his typically modest way, Clive Kemp would have been quietly proud.
What an achievement! And I cannot even climb a ladder.
One of them still owes house funds!

An amazing feat for such youngsters ( I got a bit sniffly reading the article on the BBC) - and it will be interesting to see where they go from here ( one imagines that they will be unstoppable in their chosen careers) .... but also a bit daunting for them : " I climbed Everest when I was 19" - how on earth do you top that ?
There's always NASA, I suppose !

We drunk their health last night here in Rome... and all at the table were suitably impressed. And my oldest - 6 years old - is now desperate to meet them (he has been following the reports on the web these last few days).
And to digress somewhat... what a meal we had last night - at Il Pomodoro in San Lorenzo in Rome (a "must" for anyone spending time in Rome) - we started with grilled lamb's intestine (apparently there is nothing worse for your cholesterol)... followed by pappadelle (very wide long flat pasta) with a boar sauce... followed by grilled lamb... washed down with some sprightly Falanghina and a heavy Dolcetto d'Alba...
As you can perhaps imagine I am having trouble getting down to work this morning ...

They deserve OBEs at least.

... I was rather hoping for Knighthood ... you should have seen the size of them...
but I suppose the size of the gong depends on how much I am prepared to .. ehem... "donate" to the party

Lambs intestines are used to make types of sausage like merguez, aren't they? Delicious!
How are the intestines served, by the way (apart from being grilled, obviously)?
Can't see anything wrong with eating them. No-one bats an eyelid at having sausages made with pig's intestines, do they? In fact, I've got some in the fridge at the moment.
This should be in the Food and Drink thread, really....

Forget the food - Just have a drink thread.

Would they have done it if
I wasn't their Patrol Leader in Scouts?
Let's get our priorities right here...
I'm sure Plum would agree that Shippy and Clive had a lot more influence on them than most.

Well I certainly remember Rob in my patrol, was James a Scout too? He may have been, but I'm not sure as he was always quieter.
