The escape from Eygypt i think - when the 12 tribes came together in Israel.

I shall have to ask the Rabbi - eeek he will be cross that I don't know that!
Yes it is BC as Christ was called King of the Jews - only in Judaism he is seen like Christians see John the Baptist - as a prohphet...

You have me really interested Jude.

The christian calender says the year is 2006 AD and that every year before that was whatever BC or Before Christ. So if the Jewish calender is up to 5767 and everything before that is BC which is also before christ. Does that mean he has wandered Judea twice, once 5767 years ago and again 2006 years ago? As you say, Jews regard Jesus Christ as a prophet, but you do acknowledge his presence 2006 years ago. Or does Christ refer to God?

To any Jew reading this, I am not trying to be blasphemous, I am just genuinely interested. I know next to nothing about Judaism and would like to know more.

No christ came along during the 5767 years - however, he was seen as a prophet of G_d and not as G_d's son ( all Jews write G_d as it is apparently unholy or rude to write the full name!

Don't forget the Christian calendar was changed by Augustine - so it is all mucked up anyhow - and the earth is 13 billion years old... so it sort of shows how pathetic the homo sapiens are in contrast!

Okay so what happened 5767 years ago to create a BC and AD as it were?

Is the underscore a Jewish invention, then?

Actually, and without wishing to give offence, shouldn't the name be Yahweh, or Jehovah?

whose???

When Hewbrew is written it still doesn't have the Vowel - actually Hebrew doesn't have vowels as such - they are apostrophe's inserted in the text!
Perhaps that's why it's written G_D!!

Haven't a clue! Certainly as I am a LIBERAL Jew it doesn't offend - but to an Orthodox Rabbi - it might!
