Antibiotics and alcohol usually equates to quicker inebriation

Well, we did manage to meet. The festival was very busy (sold out) but Ruth very kindly arranged for me to get in.

I could only spend about an hour there, but still time to try a few good beers.

It was nice to meet Ruth - she seemed to be having a good time. Apparently one of the perks of pulling pints at the festival is "as much beer as you can drink without falling over". Wonderful!

Found a lovely stout at 10.5% ABV. Mmmmm!

Entertainment by the Broadwood Morris Men, culminating in the Upton-on-Severn stick dance. Luckily neither Ruth or I felt moved to join in!

The trouble with these festivals is, how readily available are these fine ales after the event? It could be frustrating if you found the ultimate nectar and then could never find it again

True, but the various breweries can let you know where their beers are on sale.

So what we need now is a map, a bus, some willing participants and you have a booze cruise

Yeah am ringing the organiser today so will hopefully get next year's dates.

Will post when I know and expect to see you all there...

Oh, I hope I wasn't too drunk when you got there Richard! Me and my friend I was serving with gave ourselves the task of drinking the cask of Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild, one of the best beers in the world.

When it began to run out we made sure that we got to drink the rest of it...

Then at the end of the festival we went out in Horsham for a few beers. A small bottle of Old Speckled Hen at that horrid big pub in the centre of town (the Crown?) as it was the best they could do.

Then we went to the Malt Shovel (used to be called the Mitchell Arms) and had a pint of some unheard-of 4.4% beer whose name escapes me... then a pint of Ringwood Old Thumper...

Then we stumbled out onto the streets, just about holding each other up! and met a man wearing pink lipstick. Somehow I found my way to the station and onto a train, heading for Clapham Junction.

However I woke up at Victoria, but thought oh well it's only a short trip back on this train to CJ. No problem.

Except I woke up in Crawley. I jumped off the train and crossed the platform and got on the next train. Lucky it was London-bound as I'm not sure I checked.

So then I woke up again in Victoria. Damn. I stayed on the train and managed to stay awake back to CJ and got off the train.

I then had to wait AGES for my bus home. Once on it I was very careful not to fall alseep...

Meanwhile my friend reports he went for an all-you-can-eat Chinese, was violently sick "because I got such terrible hiccups" and then wandered round Horsham drinking vodka.

If I'd known I'd be in Crawley 2 hours later I could have stayed for the Chinese!!!

Nice story, Ruth! I've 'overslept' on a few trains myself......

You seemed perfectly OK when I saw you.

However, you must have had a few if you thought The Crown was a good idea.......!

At least The Malt Shovel should have restored your faith in Horsham's pubs.

Where did you meet the bloke with the lipstick? You weren't in Piries, by any chance?

I wish I could get to that stage, just so that I could have a story to relate. I only ever seem to get to the stage where I know what I am going to do but can't stop myself.
