I seem to remember the translation though my Latin days are long behind me (have I said that before?)

has answered my question. What (in Latin or any other terms) is the difference between the 'Carmen' (Hertford) and the 'Votum' (Horsham), beyond the addition of a particular verse for Hertford (about girls in gymnslips, if I recall....) :? :?
See http://user.itl.net/~geraint/christshospital.html as I recall we had a different verse 7 (was it just the first line that was different?) and omitted verse 6. Do they still sing it just as it is written there as it doesn't seem totally suitable for a mixed gender school if you look at the literal translation.
