Lonelymom - does this not then confirm my point that we live in a media-fed world? All I am saying here, and I don't want to feel like I'm going on (although I probably am) is that a society in which so much importance and attention is attached to someone with no discernible talent or benefit to the world is a rather sad and vacuous one. I do think it's sad that Goody is dying, but I just don't like to see her profit from it and so publicly. Goody embodies the 'celebrity culture' - a 'culture' which I find insipid, banal & tasteless. I also find it incredible that because her illness is terminal, her previous bad behaviour is ignored and people start saying what a wonderful, deserving person she is. They simply wouldn't be saying these things, were it not for her illness.
My therapist says I have a preoccupation with vengeance. We’ll see about that.

We're going to have to agree to disagree I think, Marty. As far as I am aware she apologised on more than one occasion for her part in the BB fiasco. Doesn't she have the right to be forgiven for her mistakes, isn't it the Christian thing to do? 'Let he who is without sin cast the first stone'. I am not without sin so I will not judge her, nor will I hold it over her until the day she dies (which, lets face it, won't be long will it?)

Agreed!!! :D

I'm not a christian myself, however I have no real problem with her being forgiven. It's her being rewarded that narks me. Anyway today's news has (thankfully) been Goody-free so I'm happy, although sadly I fear it's only because of the dreadful attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team.

My daughter came home from school today and told me that her friend was taking her Jade calendar back to the shop.

She asked her friend why and the friend replied because it only goes as far as April.

Bad taste I know!

I went to a comedy night last week and there were a few Goody jokes doing the rounds. One of the acts commented on the irony of her documentary being made by a channel called 'Living'.

Anyone see this article?

No I haven't, I don't want to and I am worried this is becoming an obsession with you.

I only click on this thread so I don't have a little red circle glaring balefully at me, enough already.

Forgive a quick Christian response to the "Forgiveness" bit-------- It also requires Repentance !
We could do a whole Topic on that -- and also Transubstantiation !
OUCH ! I fear "Incoming Fire " again !

I was quite unnerved when in the que at WH Smiths on tuesday I saw OK's isseue was in memory of Jade Goody 1981-2009-i thought for a moment she had died now. But it seems they are just preempting it, her family have come out in support but i must admit i think its rather distasteful

RIP

I was quite surprised at my own reaction! Having been quite cynical about the publicity surrounding Jade's life in general I found myself in tears when I saw that she had finally died!! :(

Must be the hormones...... and mothers day.... and general 38 week pregnancy exhaustion!

My best thoughts are with her boys & her mother...
