Ajarn Philip said that he "Couldn't get the tune out of his head "
When we were baby-sitting our last- but one Grandchild --- Anne would rock him to sleep singing "Waltzing Matilda"
(She is not Aussie -- but it seemed a good tune )
Years later -- he is now 20 -- he remarked that if it ever came on his car radio -------ZZZZZZZ-----CRASH !

OK folks - watch this space! Maria and Jarmo took off for the hospital at about 11 this morning (Finnish summer time) and Hanna and I have spent a busy day making a 'Hello Baby' card in lots of lurid colours whilst also trying to make sense of the Malaysian Grand Prix with pictures by Finnish TV and written comments in English online, but not actual commentary. I gather that rain stopped play! When the baby comes out of Mummy's tummy Daddy will come home and tell us, and then we can go to the 'hostipal' to see whether it is a girl baby or a boy baby - meanwhile Hanna is being very good and looking after Grandma! My mobile phone doesn't seem to be working and we have no 'landline'! Aunty Tigger (aka Kirri - don't ask why; something to do with being bright and bouncy?) is going to come on Thursday on the aeroplane to see our baby.
More news as it happens from Hanna and Grandma.

PICTURES ! PICTURES !
I realise that all babies look like Winston Churchill --- but the first pictures are so great !
On second thoughts--- could we have the slightly later pictures, there seems to be a fashion these days of taking pictures which we Chaps don't really want to see !
Our latest Grandson was subjected to this, and I have suggested to his Parents, that, if he ever sees them he may be scarred for life !

Hanna has a baby brother, born at 1.29 pm today (Finnish summer time) weighing 3.71 kg, whatever that is in real money! He has been thoroughly cuddled by Mummy, Daddy, Hanna and Grandma, and Hanna is very 'decited'! No name as yet - the custom in Finland is not to name the child until baptism, but we probably won't wait that long.

Neill, pictures will follow but will have to wait until Maria and baby are home, becaus Grandma's technical know-how is not up to it. My CH education did not encompass IT - I'm not sure that computers were invented then.

Many thanks for all your good wishes; I shall relay them to Maria when she is home - possibly tomorrow or next day. We were all very tired when we got home from visiting the 'hostipal' last night and I had fond hopes of an early night, but Hanna was running around like a mad thing. It occurred to me in the middle of the night that it was Silly Daddy's fault - he had bought her a chocolate bar on the way home and we were on the receiving end of the resulting sugar rush. Hanna was determined that she was going to sleep in Daddy's bed because Mummy wasn't there to cuddle him and he would miss her.

I have realised this morning that nobody has given me a door key, so we cannot go to school because I couldn't get back into the house afterwards, and Daddy is at work. My technical knowledge doesn't extend to mobile phones either, and somewhere in the change from UK to Finland via Sweden my phone has decided to be choosy about what I can do with it. Jarmo managed to phone me from the hospital, but I do not seem to be able to make any calls out. So it will be a jolly day of Juniori on TV, which Hanna understands and I don't. Can you imagine Iggle Piggle in Finnish? We have discovered some interesting CBeebies games on the laptop - we used to have pre-reading, now it is drag-and-drop for three year olds! Also we are playing with flashcards - ten words so far. Does anyone know if Ladybird books still exist? Today we have progressed to 'sentences', or at least two nouns joined by 'and'!

Never mind Maria having 'baby brain' it sounds as though the whole family, with the possible exception of Hanna, have it.

Many congratulations to all concerned.(especially Maria who did all the hard work)

Big thanks everyone.

Brought baby home on Wednesday and so far, he's been an angel... speaking too soon no doubt! Far more accommodating than Hanna ever was! Will try & post a pic if I can.. I have put some on Facebook today.

Baby still has no name and we are open to suggestions... I realise how dangerous it is to post this here but I'm game!
