Dig! Dig! Dig!

Alas for my nails. I must work really soon at restoring them and repainting them - with Revlon "One Perfect Coral" I think.

However, a repeat visit to Sarah the donkey. It was drizzling a bit as I toiled to her enclosure, so she had retreated to her stable. I had brought a lovely apple, a whole carrot, a thistle, a strawberry, sunflower seeds, and as a final treat, a Bassetts Mint Cream. She loved the mint cream and made the funniest faces as she rolled it about her mouth; ears at all angles! Froth! Chomp!

Then I had to be treated to a reading of a long poem written by her owner. But I was musing on the eey-normous teeth which had snatched up the gourmet goodies from my hand! And six large compost bags of well-rotted donkey poo...

Today I create a new raised bed. Thank you Sarah! And thank you all you gourmet goodies advisors!

A last thought on the Robins -------
I opened a back window on the Garage so that was access for them
Did this work ? ---- did it Heck ! ----- they don't like that way in, and persist at the FRONT.
I have checked the Garage fully --- there are no nests , as yet, so the little darlings will have to find somewhere else, in a largeish Garden, with Camellias, Rhodedendrons, Azaeleas, all 8ft tall and a Cupressus hedge 8ft tall and 4ft wide and 20 yards long !
On the basis of "Natural Selection" if they can't find anywhere else to nest --- they don't deserve to breed ! ! !

My house is built on Adelaide Plains clay - thick, sticky, rib yer boots off in winter, and rock hard in summer. We had the house built, so garden developed from scratch.

First attempt at digging - oh, gosh, must have hit some builders' rubble. Move to another spot. More rubble?

A native finally took pity on me and told me not to dig, but to layer poo and hay (I did it the other way around to stop the hay blowing away) and to plant directly into the mulch.

Yay!
