The one wot I got is a Morphy Richards "Fastbake" in which the paddle folds down horizontally, at the end of the mixing, and therefore is easier to remove as it is flat across the base of the loaf when it is baked.
This particular model has , as the name suggests, a setting to produce a loaf, in about an hour --- useful at times !
It also does many other types of loaf, some taking 3 hours to mix, knead and bake.
Also wot I got, is "The complete Bread Machine Cookbook" by Sonia Allison (Try Amazon) I can't tell you the price --- as it was a Birthday Present, in 2004, from my ever trusting Wife --- the Blessed Anne ! It is a Hardback, and I think printed in France. I have the British Library Code, if anyone is interested.

The price in my Sonia Allison book says £16.99 (published Ebury Press) but I guess it was probably bought at a discount somewhere....
I also have Marie Lambert's New Bread Machine Book (pub Ted Smart, £12.99)
But apart from the book which came with my Kenwood machine, the best one is a slim booklet 'Allinson Bread - over 25 fabulous bread recipes' which costs next to nothing and is/was found by the Allison yeast packets, in Sainsburys etc.

Oddly enough I was just looking at the Morphy Richards Fastbake in a catalogue somewhere and thinking it looked like a good bet, especially with a retractable blade - so thank you Neill for the endorsement. If I do decide to replace my existing machine then that is the one I shall go for. I don't have shares in MR either, but I have recently bought their slow cooker and am in the process of trying to get a new kettle and 4-slice toaster,also MR, whenever Argos manages to have them both in stock at the same time. I think I must be having a midsummer manic spending spree!

One Warning --- which I forgot to mention -- the Morphy Richards -- being American -- has all the quantities in "cups"
fine, for things like rasins or nuts, but messy with flour !

Since I am used to using scales, I had to weigh a "Cupful" and multiply for the weight in lb and oz.

Another tip --- if the paddle, although horisontal, still sticks in the loaf --- cut the loaf from the opposite end --- the loaves are all rectangular so it doesn't matter !

Meanwhile I thought I would have another try with the old machine and try lining it with foil, as somebody on here had suggested. It was very fiddly to do that, and looking through the viewing window the foil appear to have moved and scrunched up at the top - it may even be embedded in the loaf - I shall find out in about half an hours when the bread is ready!

Ouch! Watch your fillings - tin foil plus fillings = extreme pain!!

Well, it was a good idea in theory, but in practice a total disaster - the foil had obviously moved at the mixing stage and was 'marbled' throughout the loaf, too badly to be able to rescue any usable bread. It seems a bit extreme to have to buy a new breadmaker simply because the pan has lost its non-stickability. I seem to remember years ago buying an aerosol (sp?) spray to resurface non-stick pans - I wonder if I still have it here amongst the clutter. Does anyone have any experience of these sprays? Do they work, or is it false economy and would I just be better off cutting my losses and buying that Morphy Richards Fastbake that Neill recommended? I now have a new MR kettle, purchased from Argos this morning, and it has a whistle!

That sounds like fun, I want one! As for the breadmaker, I'd suggest that it may well be better to buy a new one. I doubt the non-stick spray will be as good as the proper factory non-stick, so it could keep coming off and ending up in your bread. But, have you tried contacting the manufacturers of your breadmaker? They might have a replacement part available.

Yep ! it does Jam and Pizza Dough and many other delights.
Oiling the Paddle and the Pan (Sounds like a Pub) helps to release the Bread --- but not Dough !

Actually Lonelymum that's good advice for Frances. Maybe the nonstick nature of the breadpan was not supposed to wear out this soon?
I had problems with my Kenwood breadmaker and they were very happy to provide me with replacement parts, under their guarantee.
I thought I would be brave and make a loaf this weekend...... whoops, got to the end of the weekend and have failed. Need to find a three hour slot with no draughts in my (very small) kitchen. Maybe tomorrow night if I get home from work early enough.
