Old Blues Day

Anything that doesn't fit anywhere else, but that's still CH related.

Philippines OB Day.
Concerning the dog, Peppone, I take it that that is a nom de guerre and that his real name is Giuseppe Bottazzi? Is he also a Communist?

I will ask the author, P A Toplis (BB,TA 62-70), aka Giovanni Guareschi.
Paul may have remembered me reading Don Camilo as a dorm book.

Just as a bit of background, Paul wrote in a previous missive

We live on the island of Guimaras, west central Philippines. It is quiet, cheap, unpolluted and virtually crime free. My wife is from Manila, we married 20 years ago and at that time I lived in Manila for a while.
I ended up here in 2002 where I have taken up farming, I have one employeee and between us we try to manage 30 acres, mostly planting it with timber trees for my pension - the only machinery we have is a lawn mower and a wheelbarrow. It is hard work but rewarding.

He was in my house and more or less contemporary with my brother.

Just proves that OB's turn up in the most unexpected places.

Now there's a thought !
perhaps we, of an anachranistic nature, should try to persuade, some of us to appear in "Costume"
Midnight dances around the Founder's statue ?
Beetle drives --- with live beetles.
Drunken orgies in the Counting House.

Of course , for all I know, these may already exixt at CH ??

How did it go, Janet? I am sorry that current physical constraints meant that I could not attend.... nor could I accept the invitation to Speech Day at the end of May.
At least the sun must have shined on Horsham for most of today?

Glad the weather was good.

Sadly, I couldn't squeeze any time in as the Combined Counties, Premiership Championship was presented to Guildford City FC yesterday at Dorkings Meadowbank ground, so I was a very 'bizzi-boy'.

It was a fantabulous day --- After the "Iffy" weather forecast, the sun blazed down (I imagine that the Chaplain had a word with the Almighty ? )
Regrettably I had to be late for the Debate ----- due to the fact that at 2.15pm Lunch was STILL being served in Big School, and the Debate started at 2 pm !!!

I was upbraided by my collegue, for being late, who felt I should have left without Lunch ------- I think I was unusually mild, in NOT explaining that missing a meal for a Type 1 Diabetic on Insulin (Now 55 years) may result in even greater "Entertainment" but I did slip in a slightly acid remark that, if they couldn't serve Lunch on time, it MUST have been "Better in my time "
I was surprised that we won the Debate with a large majority --- which goes to show thar CH has not lost it's sense of humour !

Lovely to meet and greet Barnes Mum, Mrs C,(I DID buy my frogs) Lonely Mom (At a distance) and I thought I spoke to Kerren, who was not going to be there --- If it was NOT you, I apologise !

I look forward (DV) to the next year's event !
