Interesting points of view David.
Unfortunately, Court procedure these days isn't that simple. Mores the pity !

Day 2 report from The Mirror. Unpleasant reading. I understand from Leeautemps that the Court is not sitting today.

Unpleasant reading indeed. Much as we may want to, we must remember to resist the temptation to comment further at this juncture.

I hope the teacher that the victim confided in is called as a witness, assuming they are still alive.

Yes, that's my understanding. I hope to be in court when that individual gives evidence. If that happens, I can report back but only with details okayed by JT first.

I may be wrong, but I thought it was only today the case was not being heard.
Case estimated to last until a week tomorrow.
I haven't checked the Court lists today

Thank you, that would be much appreciated.

Is it acceptable to name that teacher on here once they have appeared in the witness stand? If the press coverage of this trial is similar to previous trials they will be named in the DM before that day is out anyway.

My understanding is that the Judge can demand anonymity of any witness, and breach would be a severe case of Contempt of Court.

Leave to the journos to print and be dammed.

Not quite dear JR!

Obviously no victim can be named, but the same doesn't apply to witnesses, such as a former teacher. The Judge might make a specific order, but this would be highly unusual. It's a fundamental principle of open justice than anything said in open court can be reported.

Will be interesting to see if that teacher is called for the prosecution or defence....
