when i went for the entrance exam (held from Jan 10th to jan 12th 1990 - anyone check my birthday, yes jan 11th!) we were taken to the assault course and made to do it.

I've no idea who the teacher was but it was one of the worst experiences of my life. we were ten (ok which day it was I may have been 11) and they made us do impossible things. I swore i would never ever do it again.

so when it came to the UF choice of what to do on a ?Friday afternoon, the CCF was out and the scouts, so I had to do Community Service. I went to Itchingfield infant school and taught reading, maths, physics and music to little people, for about 3 years.

I wish now I'd learn to shoot a rifle. That it one of my ambitions now. and I always want ed to be in the police, so if that choice had bee around then I may ahve taken it...

Tactical Support Group = Guns. You ought to chat to CJ, I think she is in the Police

ooh, guns are good

have almost applied a couple of times

but i think i'd fail the bleep test (see those old CH demons again?)

and that would be embarrassing

So the worst they could say is no, give it a go if you fancy the thought of it. You could always try another force too, Thames Valley Police for example

strange about them

I go to WOMAD festival in Reading every July

other than that never been to Reading in my life

anyway, long story, camera stolen at festival (Ruth devastated)

reported to police

Sat morning (few days ago) Ruth wakes up in Reading

when arrives home, letter from Reading, Thames Valley, sorry we didn't catch them.

how bizarre? what a coincidence! (are we in that thread???)

I once worked alongside an Irish girl who wanted to join the Police

I asked her why the turned her down and she told me that when they asked why she wanted to join up she had said "Because I would enjoy arresting people"

And that WAS why she wanted to be a cop!

She was a wonderful character and just a teeny bit mad too

It would have been fun being arrested by her and I think thats why she didnt get in

People would have seen her coming and done something silly just for the crack (as they say in Ireland)

just because i'd love to learn to shoot a rifle, i don't want anyone to think i just like the idea of the police because you get to shoot guns

I'm not mad i promise...
