There is finally news on the CH front.
Christ's Hospital just rang my father, about 20 minuites ago to tell him that I am now a presentee of the Guild of the Freemen of the City of London. I have next to no clue what that actualy means so I was wondering what people on here could tell me. Thanks.

Jonathan is apparently a presentee of the Council of Almoners - we never knew what that meant either! We do know that normal governors' presentations can only happen aged 11, but I understand all this is changing.

Yeah it was really weird. CH said they would send me info about it but it's really strange. I thought you actualy had to apply to one of those spots.

Doesn't that mean you are free to drive your sheep across London Bridge, or is that just Freemen of the City of London ?

I'm pretty sure that's just the freemen of the city of London.

Given that the Senior Grecian seems to get away with just about anything, no doubt he / she can drive one sheep** over London Bridge as well as entertain kitchen / sicker staff in the tube
** There was a problem some years ago when a newly appointed freeman insisted on his rights to the concern of the police who were more worried about traffic. Eventually his flock got drastically reduced and AFAIR he had to cross at some unearthly hour on a Sunday morning. I don't know if he has bought his silk hangrope yet!

rumour has it that the Senior Grecian is not only allowed to drive his sheep over London Bridge, but may keep said flock at the school (presumably Big Side is now better suited for this than Newgate Street). Moreover, I have been told that he may even ride a white charger into Dining Hall. However whether or no he has any droits de seigneur in respect of either Spanish maids or Hertford belles I cannot say .......

Chris Palgrave, brother of Simon the moderator, did indeed ride a white horse to breakfast...

I have my House allocation!.
It's Coleridge B .
Can anyone tell me anything about Coleridge B. All I know is that it is the House closest to the dining hall.

Not at the moment it's not! It's decanted to the prep block until the alterations are complete. My daughter (who will also be a dep in Col B next year) says it's a long walk...especially in the dark.
Hopefully all work will be completed by September, so you'll benefit from a newly refurbished house.

Wow. That's really interesting. We got the entrant's pack and the avalanche of forms and we're currently going through them all. They're all really intense but I suppose that's really necessary when you're at boarding school.
