Reminds me of buying a ticket to Ware, from almost anywhere else! Once at Oxford I went to the station a day or two in advance with my friend. She wanted one to Cark-in-Cartmel. I can't remember which of us went first but the clerk was distinctly Not-Happy (as opposed to unhappy!)

Back to telephones ----
This very Morning at 9am I had a call telling me I had won a wonderful holiday in the Carribean ------
Just for fun, I followed the instructions, until I was asked about my Credit Cards ---------- in a Bombay accent ---

At this point I understood --- and put the 'phone down !!

OOh dear Neill......
I hope not, but suspect you will find that you will have been charged a Lot of Money for that phone call..............

............ then there's the classic.

MAN AT STATION TICKET OFFICE:- 'I'd like to buy a return ticket, please !'

TICKET CLERK:- 'Where too ?'

MAN AT STATION TICKET OFFICE:- 'Back here, you stupid booger !'

This is neither pedantic, nor funny,but I once asked for a ticket to Christ's Hospital and was told that it didn't exist - I must mean Christchurch!

I have a a newly purchased bottle of Aquafresh mouthwash .
'Extreme Clean' purifying mouthwash.

It claims :-

"Kills 99% of bad breath causing bacteria"

Am I unncessarily sceptical here?

It's that time of year for hearing about peoples' holidays!

Am I alone in feeling irritated by " Yes! We did Rome... did Naples... did Salerno on our way to Sicily!"?

It annoys me. I'd actually like to hear about some interesting places, not imagine them being briskly ticked off on a list of "done".

Oof. That's had my moment of irritation then!

What I call "The Americans do Europe" syndrome.
My in-laws from Costa Rica did it and had to come and stay with us to recover. They had little idea where they were most of the time.

Then there was the late and very great Marty Feldman who did a sketch on the same lines with Bob Todd and Co.

A Relative has made "My Weekend with the Church Prayer Group" into a computerised presentation!

"Here we are on the balcony" "This is the kitchen" "This is us by the canal. It was a bit cold!!" "The lounge". And so on.

There is a clever programme that makes it look as if a page is turning, from picture to picture.

Delightful muzak plays as-you-view!

Those of us in our dotage, may remember Armand and Michaela Denise, who presented Wild life programmes on TV -----

These consisted, mainly, of Micheala, in black and white footage ----

" Here is Micheala with a wooly Monkey" Here is Micheala with a Tortoise" Here is ----- etc, etc.)
She was very ornamental, but it was, at the time, a general joke, to imagine scenes-----------"Here is Michaeala ---"-- Sorry -- we will get a Moderator intervention !!!

So long as it was never Michaela with a Church Prayer Group.
