My rule of thumb for being on the road as a driver, passenger or pedestrian is never trust anyone else, especially on the motorway. There are people driving vehicles who shouldn't be in charge of a wheelbarrow, imho.

I drove automatics for years, and live in a relatively flat area, so hill starts were a thing of the past.

I now drive a manual once more, and negotiate a very steep slope on a daily basis, with traffic lights at the top. Oh the hyperventilating and slipping of clutch that goes on if I cop a red light :oops:
