Um....Actually pissoir is a British-invented word, coined to describe the dodgy free-standing cast-iron khasis which les Francaises adore. French people don't have a clue what the word means.

Or am I getting confused and was the word originally coined as a description of Crawley?

Well, when I lived in France everyone seemed to know what it meant.

As for Crawley, there are no polite words to describe it - it is a rancid hole.
