I'll scan it. Who's going to post it for me ? I won't use 'sick-bucket', or whatever it's called.
Sorry - i've removed the spurious one.

If you email it to DavebytheSea@aol.com, I'll post it for you - using suckbucket of course!

I have just returned from watching a March Past practice for the Duke of Gloucester`s visit on Monday and saw Gemma marching in uniform for the first time - looked totally comfortable and relaxed ( - and in step, unlike some!), as though she`d been doing it for years!!

CH certainly knows how to throw people in at the deep end!!

Surely not.

I don't mean that Gemma couldn't do it (I get the impression that she could do anything she put her mind to) but that surely in 32 years there has been a female drum major.

I've got the impression that drum majors all come from one house, Mary and that doesn't have girls. NOT FAIR!!!!

There hasn't beena female drum major...

as far as I know, no one has ever expressed an interest...

Blimey, can I volunteer?

I would be up for a bit of baton chucking and levitating.

Katharine I did get that impression but I thought it was a suggestion rather than a law.

What do they do, ask 10 year olds "would you like to be a drum major when you grow up?" "OK we'll put you in MidA (or wherever) then."

FWIW Coleridge did supply drum majors including one who tossed the mace over the Big School / Languages Block bridge. She has a chance at least.

Not a very good photograph, but I'm sure it will evoke some memories from our 'older' posters !

The word flamboyant springs to mind.

HI!!!!!

I'm At CH!.
Everything is so great, as great as I imagined and right now I'm sitting in I.T School wearing Housey.
I've seen so many people from the forum and everyone has been superbly helpful, especially Eruresto, eho incidently is sitting right next to me looking far too pleased about something. I have no idea what but It may be to do with LOTR.
I had the worst day on thursday, Literally, the worst day ever. Someone spilt custard all over my skirt just before lunch, I got my bands dirty ( ssshh ) and I choked on a piece of corn. There is also a bit too much gossip flooding around than is good or suitable even for CH.

I'm wearing...... girdle. They took away my broadie and I havn't seen it since so I have to spend a week wearing this thing.

I'm staying in prep block, it's not as bad as everyone made out for which I am eternally thankful but, I am going to be awfully pleased once I move into Col B.

Everyone is so nice, It's almost unbeleiveable. the only problem ( apart from a skirt covered in custard ) was that I have no idea where I am supposed to eb when, which caused me to miss quite a few rather important things..... Roll Call, Meeting....

I'm off now, but I'll make a large post as soon as I get home including picture, which I still need to take.

xxx Gemma.

Yes...the rumour mills are certainly active (though I don't know if Gemma and I are talking about the same thing - haven't broached it). No, it's not about LotR (my laughter)....

And it's Modlang department, outside GNC's room and the Language Lab, not IT School. Gemma, you have a lot to learn  .

Thank you for thinking of us and posting while you are actually there! It's great to hear how things are going and that you are enjoying the time and it has lived up to your expectations. Glad Josh is looking after you. Look forward to seeing some piccies when you're home. And please, what is this awful gossip that is unsuitable? Tell us and we can advise you if it is too unsuitable!!
