Quite agree Marty ! Though its hard to absolutely sure from the podgy tum angle.

Beautiful plush coats, if I remember from my cat-show days !
Did you win anything, JR?
The odd first here and there and one 'Premier'.

I enjoyed the show-world so much before Jan became ill, I'd travel miles to voulunteer and work at cat-shows, usually as a veterinary steward !

She is indeed a Burmese - had a brief show career and one litter, retired to the home of my ex-Supervisor who already had three male cats and who does not believe in letting cats out of the house. Then along came Ash, a ginger female. Lots of peeing in appropriate places. Ash went to live with my daughter and Swish joined my household. She arrived as a pussybum princess (I guess, unless you watch Kath and Kim, that you won't be familiar with that expression  ), but gradually developed into a genuine cat.

She is very friendly unless you are a canine. She is reasonably accepting of my daughter's greyhound now, but wages a war of wills with my ex's boxer, who is currently residing with me (don't ask: very long story :? ).

Swish is beautiful. What colour is she? Do Burmese get called the same colour categories as Siamese?

She is very friendly unless you are a canine.

Tosca (mentioned before) bore a long-lasting grudge towards quite a nice little terrier belonging to a neighbour. When it was proceeding past our house on its lead, Tosca would leap out of my Euonymus fortunei Emerald and Gold with the express intent of terrifying it. not every day, but cunning random attacks. The terrier became apprehensive, and its owner would scream "Call off your cat!"

BTW if anyone is wondering what has happened to Jude, I visited her last weekend and we had to socialise in 3 hour bursts as her kitties still require frequent feeding.

They were 25/26 days old last weekend and starting to look for food themselves and also using the litter tray appropriately.

Sadly one of them had died the previous Monday but the two she has are going from strength to strength. They are eating so much that after a feed their little fat tummies nearly drag on the floor, it is so funny to watch.

Jude is just fostering them until they are old enough to be rehomed. She is hoping they will go together.

Hi Munch & Mary

Combining replies here: I'm more of a moggy than a pure-bred person, so I may be wrong when I say that Burmese are defined by colour the same way as Siamese are, and that Swish is a chocolate point.

My daughter has a part-oriental named Efel: she. mother and siblings appeared at the stables where Jess was working while the owners were away. Jess rang owners to ask if she was supposed to be feeding the cats, and was replied by a roaring 'No! And I'll be drowning any kittens when I get back'. She didn't feed them, but did attempt (unsuccesfully) to find homes for the kittens. On the day before the owners returned home, the mother sort of presented Efel to Jess, left with the other two kittens, and hasn't been seen on the property since. Efel is quite a character, and one day I turned up at the property when Jess was away to find two unknown dogs wandering around: assumed that they belonged to friends of the tenant, but the tenant had assumed that they were with me. While we were having a cup of tea together the dogs jumped in through an open window. Efel let out an enormous growl, and chased the dogs (one terrier and one of those brown Hungarian, er, Wislers, or something) back out of the house.

I had, indeed, wondered where Jude was, and hoped that she was well. Any idea what happened to Sean?

Cheers

Australian Star Cats!

Swish is a chocolate point.

I looked her up in a "Cats of the World" book. She is much prettier than the illustrated Burmese. Perhaps she should go into modelling! (Late nights, own passport-for-pet, special diet, unsuitable circle of cat friends)

Efel let out an enormous growl, and chased the dogs (one terrier and one of those brown Hungarian, er, Wislers, or something) back out of the house.

Wow! An Attack Cat! Most impressed.

I suspect he`s probably suffering from RSI after all the posts he wrote!

(seriously, I think he`s alive and well - just somewhere else possibly)

In the G.C.C.F (Governing Council of the Cat Fancy), world. All colours are standard across all breeds. Each breed is defined and recognised by a number, and sometimes a number and a letter.

Hence some new-comers and casual spectators get confused when they expect to see a Blue cat, which they thinks looks a greyish colour !

Question for JR

Post by Angela Woodford »

JR, can a cat "see" a warm patch? They seem to have a brilliant ability to settle in the most comfortable spot!

I don't know about 'see', but I think they can sense one.

We have an aged neuter boy who sleeps on our brd, and the second the central heating cuts in, he will move to the end of the bed by the radiator.

Cats certainly have senses we humans don't possess !

Comfy spots

Aren't they clever? Get out of your chair to make a cup of tea, and a puss will be curled up there on your return. And I frequently make my bed around Ferdinand's apparently sleeping form. I get out - he gets in.

But look at Caroline's cat relaxing on a greyhound!

Poor little chap ended up in prison...............
Seriously - he spent the whole day at the vets where it was discovered that not only did the eye infections need treatment and he was riddled with fleas and worms - but also that he had a serious mouth infection and had already lost a number of teeth.
The Rescue people decided that he was too vulnerable to return to live 'in the wild', so he has joined a semi-feral colony of 4/5 cats in Ford Open Prison (hello hello I can feel jokes about absconding coming on.....). His job is to catch mice etc., but the Warders will keep an eye on him and if it looks as if he needs more veterinary treatment, he will be taken back to the vets. I have had no further news of him - though as I drive through the middle of Ford Prison to and from work, I keep my eyes peeled in case I see him.
I hope that it is a satisfactory outcome for him - though for a few days afterwards I did feel bereft!

Think how terrible that little cat must have felt! Infections, fleas, worms and missing teeth! I wonder if you will ever catch a glimpse of him again, Kerren? However, now he's been properly treated, thanks to you, he'll have a busy career as a Feline Prison Officer!

I was entranced last night to see an add on the telly (a gourmet cat food) featuring the most gorgeous Chinchilla - perfect thick white fur, green eyes + eyeliner, plushy tail! This must be the glamour cat for selling things? I can remember the Kosset Carpet Cat! And there was a beauty in a James bond film? This cat is so lovely.
