As someone who had a hectic football programme over the Easter weekend, I finally managed to surface around mid-day today !

I think I've had quite enough sleep for the time being ! :drinkers:

One of my bosses long ago was a Mr Brian Quick; you can imagine why we were ordered to simply call him Brian and never ever to refer to him by his initial and surname.. (This is not the copper in disgrace!)

This may be slightly "Off Topic" But-----

In Tripoli, Libya, when we were running the country, the Uaddan Club was the Watering Hole and also acted as an hotel for distinguished visitors --- I remember Rita Hayworth arriving, on the arm of Ali Khan, and every male tongue in the Lounge ---- fell out !

One Lady, who always liked to be "One of the Lads" when asked what she would like to drink, declared in a loud voice --- during one of those quiet pauses in the conversations " I'D LIKE NOTHING BETTER THAN A LONG JOHN THOMAS"

The Lounge convulsed with ribald hilarity --- as her Husband whispered in her ear, that she meant a Tom Collins ! !

Of such memories are my declining years brightened !

for anyone going blue, holding their breath in anticipation......

pikku mies finally has a name...

"Xander"
Alexander Kenneth Heikki Vatanen

Aleksanteri is Jarmo's great grandfather
Kenneth is my Dad
Heikki is Jarmo & his father's middle names

... of course the combination of Heikki & Vatanen might destine him to motor racing but i could learn to live with that kind of income....

No offence to Tommi or any of the other suggestions.... which included Gonzo, Rumpelstilskin and Kermit  .... it was a tough decision - labelling someone for the rest of their life!! Quite scary really... ...and difficult to do the bilingual thing as well...

but I think we've made the right choice, he can always decide to call himself Alex or Sandy or Aleksi or Santeri when he's older... we applied the same thinking to Hanna who is actually Johanna Kirrily Raili, so she can call herself Jo or Anna or Joanna or even Nancy (my irish great greatmother Johanna's nickname) later on.

Well, if I'd known those amazing names had been suggested I'd have definitely voted for them!!! Or at least as middle names! You could have gone Alexander Gonzo Kenneth Rumpelstiltskin Heikki Kermit ( ) Vatanen, perfectly acceptable names every one of them, and they'd look amazing on a CV!

Excellent choice. My No 1 son is James Edward Joseph Faulkner. My first son was always going to be James, Edward was his paternal grandfather's middle name and Joseph is my father's middle name.

He wants to be an actor and there is already a James Faulkner/Edward Faulkner/Joseph Faulkner so he is Joseph Edwards, neat eh?

We are pleased to announce the arrival of yet another of the Grogan tribe, as yet with no name. A little girl weighing in at approx 7lb 11 oz was born at 2.10 this morning to Kirri Grogan and Steve Carlisle at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, after a 27 hour labour (ouch!). Mum described herself as 'tired and sore' , Dad sounded a bit shell-shocked. Grandma (Frances) and Auntie Maria still recovering from sleepless night, and Grandad on his way back from Finland where he had gone meet his grandson Xander and coincidentally to see the Tall Ships in Turku.
