McCall? I’m not sure whether he’s still alive, although I’ve not seen a CH obituary for him.
I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that there will be a number of CH staff from that time who won't be getting a CH obit, maybe a note in a ledger somewhere but nothing more.

He was asked to leave mid term. (On another thread.) Unlikely to get an obit.

I honestly believe that if he had passed away prior to the abuse charges then CH would have given him a short obituary. Maybe not now, but 5-10 years ago yes.

Ja, I remember him teaching me maths at the start of term, then not by the end of it, but I was thinking more along the lines of the school wanting to avoid future associations with certain former members of staff by keeping any remembrances to an absolute minimum. In the days before the internet became so annoyingly handy at storing information, I'd guess that certain employment records would have been lost in one of those useful accidents (flood/fire/burst water pipe/the temp shredded it by accident/etc).

Good point Scrub.

I am curious as to his age but I can’t find a birth record that is definitely his.

Excellent work Richard! I was looking for an Ernest so completely wrong.

It’s funny how as a child/teen you assume your teachers are ancient. He’s not that much older than my father, although I suppose I thought he was ancient too.

He must have been fairly new at the school when I started in 1971 but didn't come across my path until becoming my house tutor in 1974 when he would have been 30.

Even then he seemed old before his time.

Yes. The problem of using my phone!!

He was born on the Isle of Wight if that helps trigger memories.

I have a worldwide Ancestry account, and apart from the record of his birth on the Isle of Wight in about July 1944, he has vanished into thin air. Nothing on electoral rolls or death records.

There’s always the chance he changed his name or died fairly recently.

They only go up to 2013 so he may have died since.

I have been through probate records back to 1996 and no Will in his name has been presented for probate to be granted.

So he doesn't appear to be dead.

He definitely went to Kenya as far as I understand. Just keen to know if he's still there or he came back?
Given RM taught previously in Kenya and likely still had strong connections at the school, I wonder whether that’s where McCall turned up?
