by the way... we went to the boars head for lunch. Burger was magnificent, bangers and mash very nice, cheeseboard was a complete ripoff. Staff were friendly and helpful, the place was nicely done up and the prices were a bit steep. It opens at 12. Hope that helps. x

It still gives me tingles when other parents say how proud they are to have children at CH

Oooh, have got a big lump in my throat reading your posts!
We are at the other end of the CH spectrum - our son finished in Grecians in the summer and our daughter has just become a Dep. Our daughter went back on Sunday night (very happily) and it was only then it hit home that our son had done his 7 years and that there would be a new little 2nd former with my son's old number (Mid A1) sewn into his clothes.
CH is a wonderful school filled with endless opportunities and my son is very grateful indeed for having the chance to be part of it and now has a very bright future ahead of him at Uni thanks to this amazing institution.
Sending you all good wishes for 21 wonderful terms

The Bax castle is near ch drive out main car entrance turn right, when you reach the corner of the school with the main gates and lodge turn right again (acute angle) that road is Two Mile Ash - at the end of it after a fairly sharp right/left the pub is on left just before bridge over abandoned railway line
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&sourc ... 5&t=h&z=15
It is walkable from school if you cut up across bigside and up the waplegate track then turn right - or go across big side past first XI pavilion and down footpath to railway line and then follow that

And I believe that the Bax Castle changed hands within the last year or so, and I have not had any report that the new ownership matches the previous provision. I believe that the new people have changed the days/times that food is available, but I have no report on whether the food that they provide is good or bad. Anyone been there recently?

I do believe it has gone through several
guvnors of late.
Lovely pub, except on Retreat Day when Hooray-Henry's and Henrietta's try to take the garden over at lunchtime.
Ask young Plummo !!

After a period of real instability, the Bax has landlords that are allowed (want?) to stay and the food has improved... good pint too...
