But I would also like the Bombadillo stuff back...too...anyone who saw Josh on Rock School would know that there is something 'special' or 'different' about him... Mr. Plum might call it 'eccentric' but.. speaking as an Old Blue.. I think that most of us fit that description anyway. Maybe its just that Josh has started a bit sooner than most?!

Good on you, Josh!
But as I said, with eccentricity, it takes one to know one! :)

Can anyone please tell me what put the thought of doing Latin Literature into my mind? :D

For the past couple of weeks I've done literally nothing but shop, talk on the phone and read Latin/Greek Literature.
Don't get me wrong, I love it but there's so bl**dy much of it!!!

I'm on the Odyssey at the moment, about a 6th of the way through and that will be the last of my current bundle which I managed to get from the library. I've done Ovid, Euripides, Propertius, Tibullus, Catullus, Virgil etc....

I need a hug.

Consider yourself embraced by the entire OB community on this forum, Gemma....(and whether or not you get a hug from Josh as well is between the two of you!)
I think Latin must be taught well at CH. Our presentee (who's a year younger than Josh) just got 93% for Latin - and she was not top of the class. I just want to know WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OTHER 7%? Disgraceful.....

They clearly haven't got someone like Miss Blench-you would have to be a perticularly hardy soul to do Latin with her by choice.

We had Mrs O'Brien for Latin. I hated it, she hated me & so I gave it up asap.

YAY!. Forum hugging.

And Whether I did get a Hug from Josh is indeed between the two of us ( I didn't, he's all the way in Havant :( )

I love Latin so much!!!. It's an amazing language and subject, might honestly turn out to be my second favourite subject. Under History which is just handsdown my fave.

From what I've seen and heard the Latin teaching currently is excellent. I'm so happy about that.

Queenie Blench was probably the most intellectual member of staff in my day.. and it was unfortunate for us who were not good in Latin that we suffered from her sarcastic tongue. I think there is already a thread about that? I suspect that she really was 'casting her pearls before piglets' and that if she had had a more open personality, enabling her to work elsewhere, she would have had an inspiring effect upon her pupils. Even so, the most devoted of the classicists at Hertford did very well under her....
I wonder what our Presentee would have achieved under Queenie Blench, in today's climate?!
