Gemma, if you`ve had bad teaching you must be a genius yourself to get those grades.
Do not assume everyone at CH has done better than you , because I know they haven`t!!
And how can you be behind in Latin with an A* in a national exam????

I'm so proud of myself!. Now I just need to get great A Level results though I am sure I will do well at CH.
Update on my freind. Sadly she will not be coming at all.

. She hasn't told me anything else but she isn't for which I'm really sad about.
It would have been a wonderful experience for her and I know that she really wanted to come!. I just hope she'll be happy where she goes now.
It's made me upset since she is the only other person that I know would be automatically there for me at school in terms of my peers. But alas!. Life never was meant to be fun all the time.

Why the change of heart on your friends behalf, Gemma ?

Probably because It's just life and I have to accept it.
It's beyond my control and I can't force her family to change their minds so I'm just hoping the best for her even if it isn't at CH.

I am sorry you are moving away from your friend, Gemma.. but you won't be losing her as a friend per se. And you already have friends at CH including Josh as well as us old fogeys on the Forum (and, sorry, there's also Amy and Matt, at least, much younger fogeys!). I think you are going to have a BALL and I hope you will sometimes find the time to keep us in the picture with how things are for you.
Several of us on the Forum (especially from Hertford) are going to be in Horsham on 16 September (a Sunday) for the Memorial Service for our former Headmistress, who died aged 94 last December. Could you join us, do you think? We are hoping that this will be a joint School/Old Blue event, and if you are interested in the history of the Foundation (I already sent you a taste of it with 'the Spirit of Susannah'), there will be a booklet given out to people in uniform. It will contain the Founder's Day Addresses given to the School (in Hertford) between 1942-1972, by our old Headmistress. Each year she changed the focus a bit - e.g. sometimes it was from the perspective of a beggar on the street, sometimes it was from the perspective of the Great and the Good of the City of London. All together, it makes fascinating reading...and not only was such a story not delivered in Horsham as such, but overall the book contains fascinating snippets of historical fact which were totally unknown to some of the male Old Blues who helped us put the book together.
(OK guys.. you know who you are. Don't worry, if you helped us put it together, you will get a copy, too!)
Enjoy your last few days of 'freedom' Gemma. You are going to be incredibly busy for the next two years!

Of course! It will be available for a modest price - on the day and then, I guess, advertised via The Old Blue (THINKS.. I had better get Viv to increase the print run!).
I will make sure we put one aside for you Maggie....
Best wishes

I'll definitely try to see you all!.
I'm so pleased that an event like this is happening so I can finally put people to the names on the forum.

.
You're right about having freinds already both on the forum and at school so I won't be too lonely!. I'm am so glad that I took the step to making an account, the freindliness and help I have received here has been so wonderful and I can't imagine going to CH in the same state.
Just checked the school Calendar and other than a scout 'mad lag' I should be able to make it.
You've made me all excited now.

See you on the 16th, Kerren, and would I be able to pick up a copy of the Founders Day addresses to send to Caroline?
Looking forward to meeting you Gemma!

Angela... don't worry. Caroline contributed to typing up from DRW's typed sheets over those 30 years, so I shall be sending her a copy anyway (also to all those others who helped).
There should be copies of the booklet available for people at the Memorial Service to buy (a modest price, as I said....) but we have committed to giving it away f.o.c. to pupils in uniform who attend the service, as an incentive to getting them interested in the history of the Foundation - which apparently is not given to them as it was to us.
Yes, I am looking forward to seeing everyone who can be there - especially Munch! And Gemma... I most sincerely hope to meet up with you. I shall be at tea for a brief moment, then hobbling (yes, I am arthritic - so you won't be able to miss me!) over to Chapel for choir practice (4.15-4.45) and singing in the choir for the service. So I hope to meet you either before or after!
I'm going to take my camera, folks, so watch this space (though I might need a bit of help!)
