To my knowledge OB has always stood for Old Blue - and thank heavens it has!
We are lucky enough to have a well established universal term which isn't sexist, ageist or anything!
What more could we wish for!

*snipity snip*
Only girls can play the cymbals. The band captain on my year was a girl! There have been lots of girls in the CH band for as long as I remember...
why???
I refuse to get into the male v female debate. I don't understand sexism and I never will, or racism come to that.
In the same way that only boys from Mid A can be a drum major, only boys from Maine A can play the tenor drums and originally only girls from Barnes A can play the cymbals. I think now, every girl can play the cymbals.

I assumed you were still playing, (this being a Band related thread) but if you're not, my apologies, you sensitive old thing.
I've just come back from band practice where I think they mistakenly gave me a trumpet part for a paso doble, with all twiddly bits. Not so difficult for the twinkling digits of a trumpet player, but verging on the impossible for a short armed trombonist.

I'm sure you are very able to push and pull your metal pole!! can you get shorter trombones for those with shorter arms? Like violins come in different sizes???
Back to the topic though --
John - trombone
Cath -
Mary -
JR - trumpet / bugle
RR -
Julian
Simon
David
Maggie
me - err - given enough time clarinet
please continue to fill in the gaps - we need a segeant major, some majorettes (yes you could have ra ra skirts etc!!)

JR - I am shocked -nay embarrassed! I was thinking that you would have to run around the Quad at CH as in days of old as punishment! The only things I have 4 of are fingers on each hand, and a set of 4 person cutlery!
I would have had a set of 4 crockery, but I bought 2 sets of four, thus have a set of 8.......There are 4 walls to my house in main, but there are 3 extra at the front wherer the outer hall and loo and front door are....
Happy Easter to all you Christians
Pesach Tova to any other Jews!

Our 'punishments-runs' were either
P.O's, (post-offices), approximately a quarter of a mile, or
'A Mile', round Big School field.
'Quad's' would have been far too easy and as far as I can remember, never existing.
Thanks for the Seasonal greeting. Although confirmed in the chapel at C.H., I consider myself more a pagan than a true Christian these days. Sounds like the beginnings of a new thread to me !
