What is this sudden obsession with asking J.T. to close or lock threads?

I believe this so-called "free expression" was positively encouraged by teachers in the 60s as a means of developing creative writing. I know, Amy, you are not of that vintage - indeed you are almost a grand-daughter of that generation - but your teachers may have been locked into this concept or something.
