I believe I have read somewhere it is at Plum Senior's house (West Gun Copse) on New Year's Eve. As I understand it, we are all invited, so you just turn up with a bottle or two.

some of us are looking forward to a very quiet Christmas

very quiet = all family and known friends are doing things and we're (I'm) not invited :(

so we need a good new years party to cheer up and be sociable
