I have been going through my father's record collection, having finally rescued from the loft a machine that will actually play vinyl, and there it was ............. 'When A Child Is Born' by Johnnie Mathis. Oddly enough though the tune I now have on the brain is not that one, but another track from the same LP - Angelo.
Both new babes are now flourishing - they have 'met' via the webcam; Xander got very excited and seemed to be trying to climb into the computer; Millie just decided it was time for another feed. Hanna is insistent that even though she now has a new cousin she is still a big sister! And Grandma is getting a bit carried away thinking of Christmas shopping already!

Thank you Frances --- for reminding me of Johnnt Mathis, and touring record shops to try to find "I'm Lost " (No pun intended), in the 40s
Since these are your Father's records, I now realise that all my vinyls are so out-dated, as to be prehistoric ! ---- I can play them, on my Amstrad thing, which resembles a sideboard, but other people seem so dis-interested in classical performers, such as Glenn Miller, Dizzie Gillespie, etc. -- my pride is a little 45 of "Dinah" played by it's composer --- Fats Waller !
I realise that all this is totally un-intelligable to anyone under 50, so I shall retire to my Bath-chair and Horlicks !
Actually, I shan't--- as we are heading off tonight , with our tent, to explore the coast south of Bordeaux, and bring back a few cases of "Vin de Fleur" which is a red wine--- served chilled -- superb !----
You will all be gratified to know that there will be no more Posts from me for some time ---

I can only report that we spent 2 nights in a Hotel --- due to "Stair -Rods Rain", but I managed to collect 5 cases -- so we should be ok until November !!
I was rather disappointed to have my treasured Machete (Ex Standard Equipment on 1940s Canadian 15cwt lorries) in a beautiful leather scabbard, and has been used, camping, for some 30 years--- taken off me at Portsmouth, (Because I had declared it ! ) I was told to see the Purser on the Ferry, and collect it at Le Havre.---------
Guess what ---- neither knew anything about it !!
But what can you do ? complain that Security at Porsmouth had "Acquired" it ???
GRRRRRR !

It also happens to be 'common-practice'.
Both on ferries and aircraft.
I'm sure it is Government ordered to illegally remove potential weapons from sensible people.
