Horsham Drinking Holes

Tomorrow, March 4, there is a CHA Board meeting at CH, due to conclude around 1530.
I haven't canvassed my fellow board members, but I at least, have thought of winding down in a local watering hole.
The Malt Shovel or The Black Jug in Horsham have been suggested.
If anyone is interested in joining me, then please pm me with a contact phone, and I will phone around during lunch to let you know time and location.

Sorry John - Won't be able to make this Saturday. Busy Saturday prepping for a big footy game with the girls at Winnersh on Sunday morning. Maybe next time you're over.

The Malt is a local - and hence full of locals...however, they are quite welcoming in there...
The Black Jug is more of a gastro-pub, and food is expensive, but good. I'm not too sure of the price of a pint in either I'm afraid.

We, that is JT, MrsC, Richard Ruck and I, had a few very palatable beverages and an interesting chat in the Black Jug.
Just to prove that the real drinkers can always make time for a meeting.

Glad you all had a good time ! I ended up hospital visiting which really made my day, then having a beer or three with youngest daughter, so feeling a bit fuzzy round the edges. Just off to Winnersh to do a football report for the paper - That's if I can see the pitch !

Anyway, it wasn't a 'session' as such (especially with 2 drivers there), just a very pleasant couple of hours.

It was great to put a face to Mrs C, and to buy a rather nice CH scarf from the Tuck Shop. (As an aside, does anyone else find it interesting how buildings smell exactly the same after many years? Especially The Court Room, Counting House and Tuck Shop were noticable for me)
Enjoyed meeting up with everyone again - shame we missed band-parade and lunch in Dining-Hall with the kids, but a very pleasant day, and a productive meeting.

I've found that the dining hall smells pretty much the same - must be all that polish.
Not exactly the same, though, as there's no longer a lingering odour of ancient brown stew.

Was that the "proper" scarf with stripes along the length that I've been trying to locate on almost all topics? Or the knitted one with tassles?

It was the knitted one - concensus of opinion seems to rate it the better of the 2!
(I know cos I sold it to Julian!)

Yep, it's very nice - if a little short compared to the old ones I remember.
It's the non-college-style one - i.e. with the two yellow stripes across the width at either end, with tassles.
MUCH warmer than those yellow/black length-ways stripe things....
