Since I still have no takers on the charter of an organised booze-up to Barcelona.... are any of you lot in the vicinity of Liverpool ?
Will be there from 2nd ( late evening) to 5th ( late afternoon) June, visiting Splendid Daughter and BF - let me know if anyone around, and will send phone number.
Otherwise will simply pub-crawl with Her Ladyship !

I think I'm the nearest to Liverpool, but can't see myself getting there then, sorry. I'm working each of those days so ... must earn some pennies to pay for my genuine hobbit weave stole!

While in NZ I visited a display showing the farm which was the source of the wool used in the Lord of the Rings trilogy for the hobbit cloaks. The same company wove all the fabric and it is beautiful. I couldn't afford a replica cloak, beautiful as it was. I did succumb to a stole and leaf brooch.
I also saw an exhibition of costumes from the film and was amazed at their quality. I had expected them to be tawdry in real life and close up - they're not they're fabulous.

The website for the weavers is
http://www.stansborough.co.nz . I don't often indulge myself - perhaps because of years at CH, I was totally entranced by the weave of the stole and succumbed to the temptation. I did not
NEED it, but .....

There are four LOTR fans in this house, we saw each film as it came out and then bought all the special edition DVDs.
The Special Editions have more on them about making the films than the films themselves (and the films aren't short). Although a lot of the hype was about the computer effects, the attention to detail was absolutely amazing on costumes, props and sets, and they have inspired my lot.
James (the oldest) went to work for Angels who supply film and TV costumes, unfortunately he became ill within a couple of months and had to leave, but he would love to go back.
Helen is hoping to study Film and TV production at University.

My son told me about the special edition DVDs, but I haven't seen them. Your family would have loved the special exhibition at Te Papa, the National Museum, in Wellington. It was quite mind blowing - the costumes, armour and other artefacts a well as a chance to sit on a special bench so that when you looked you saw a hobbit beside a human. The models of various locations were stunning. I could have spent the whole day there!

I believe Liverpool is North of the Watford Gap, so sadly, my visa precludes travel, sorry to say.
(Oooops ! I fear another admonishment in the offing from the youngsters on here !!)

I am not too far from Liverpool, down the M6. So, if there are any others around??
By the way, JR, that sort of comment means we shall definitely not be sending you any of our water!
Though we have rather a lot of it at the moment, worst luck!

We're not exactly short of it either, though our local water company seems to think we are !
