Leave Weekend

I've just noticed on the CH Website that Leave weekends now begin on a Friday afternoon and end late on Sunday.

Surely thats going to cause problems for parents trying to pick up their kids?

I have to say it sounds Barmey.

Any thoughts?

It's the latest trend to make sure that everyone gets a weekend off I guess... sounds nuts to me but then I never had far to go home...

Flippin' 'Eck !

It gets easier and easier.

We had NO half term.

NO leave weekends..................

........and three Saturday afternoons out of school a term !

Seems it's time to leave the kids at home and send their class work to them by computer !

We had one Long Saturday 10am to 5 pm.

How many leave weekends a term are there?

As Mary said - we got one Long Sat a term. Sixth formers seemed to be able to nip off for weekends though. Horsham we has one Saturday a term pretty much as we did at Hertford.

One every half term I think...

There are usually 2 , which, together with half term holidays, means the pupils go home more or less every 3 weeks.

We used to have mostly 2 leave days a term - most of them became leave weekends (leaving after Saturday lessons) by the time I left...

I bet there's a lot of pupils who can't go home for some reason or another. What do they do if they are stuck at school?

There are always 2 houses "open" - one for girls one for boys, but all pupils are encouraged to get away, if not home, then to a friend`s house. Most do go home, although before exams more stay as they are unable to revise at home.

Those who live further away do get the chance to get home now its a weekend, of course.

We didn't have a half-term break, Long sturday was IT.

It was a VERY long time between Christmas and Easter.

we had a leave day (after Sat lessons) in the first half of the term and a leave weekend (again after Sat lessons and back by 6 in Sun) in the second half of the term. the Michaelmas term half term was a week but I think the other two were Wed to Sun, at least when I first started.

here! here! JR and picking them up from Cornwall is pretty bad!
