in wondering why people register for the forum but don't post?

This isn't the only forum it happens on. My wife is a Harry Potter nut and on the site she goes on, it is well known that over half of the members have never posted

Definitely not - I checked it yesterday and there were over 400 such strange beings. There are no closed sections, so they can read everything without registering.Mid A 15 wrote:in wondering why people register for the forum but don't post?

Personally, I don't have a problem with lurkers. If they want to come in and join us, even only to listen, that is absolutely fine with me. I would say that I am even just a little bit flattered to think that anybody should be interested in what I, what we, have to say. If any of them read this, let me say to them:

How very polite DBTS - I reckon they are all those students who sit near the back of the class and don't dare to put their hand up when the teacher asks a question - and even now - when they're all grown up, they are still nervous about committing themselves for fear of criticism.
Well - don't worry - I talk (write) cr*p all the time - half the time I don't even know what I'm saying - sometimes I've had too much to drink and sometimes I'm just putting off doing something that I'm paid to do in order to post on here.

Having chatted to quite a few people on St Matt's Day, I know a lot of them have registered but prefer just to read - I am hoping that I may have enticed a couple to post over the next few days...

I'm with DBTS on this one.
The major site I use is a non-league football site, (naturally). On that site people can make posts completely anonymously, which annoys me because some of the innane drivel and abuse they post get right up my hooter. (You can both keep quiet, Sean and Richard !)
I know I tend to be on the flippant side on most forums, but hey, if yer can't 'ave a larf !!
Hiding behind an anonymous Monica proves to me that these people are weak willed failed meglomaniacs who are scared of revealing their true identities.
I have NEVER posted on ANY forum under a false name, though I must admit I tend to 'curtain twitch' on a couple !
RIGHT ! RANT OVER AND BACK TO THE INNUENDO...........
