My son got a genuine Malaysian blow pipe when he visited Brunei/Malaysia some years ago. It is about 6 feet of blow pipe with an 8 inch blade tied to the end, so that it is almost 2 metres long.
He managed to get it from Malaysia back to Buenos Aires where we then lived. He didn't take it to University in Guildford, as I suggested, and it travelled with us to Spain (part of our household effects).
Now that he has his own flat in London, we want him to take it back.
He claims that they won't let it on the plane, he had trouble in 1997, where it had to travel as hand luggage as it was too long to go in the hold, and he kept getting stopped for having a dangerous weapon.
I reckon he will have no trouble as it is pretty obvious and certainly not capable of being hidden, but he won't try.
It's almost too long to go in the car so how do we get it back to him.

I don't even think we can sell it on E-Bay.

Any suggestions?

Don't they check for weapons when you land or are you thinking of towing it behind?

No there is no check or formalities unless one goes to the Channel Islands where you have to fill in a form and drop it in a letter box.

Seriously, you could go down to the nearest marina and find which yacht is sailing to the UK in the spring.

Alternatively (and perhaps more sensibly), take it to your nearest removals/transport business. It will cost a few quid (not much), but lorries run to the UK from all over Sounthern Spain on a daily basis. It's easier than sending it on a friendly yacht, but possibly rather less fun.

You could also go with the blow pipe on the yacht!

You get a certificate confirming it as an ethnic artifact. Have it safely packaged, then fly it in by air-freight. The certificate will fly it, (if you'll pardon the expression), straight through customs here.

Might be a touch pricy, though.

My son has this hang up about being accused of importing dangerous weapons and having to fill in all manner of forms.
He'd rather leave us with the problem along with his 24 inch machete.
I thought he might be able to use them Crocodile Dundee style, but he thinks not.

sell it in Spain?
