I prefer not to put money in boxes as Giftaid is so much more efficient (Shelter- for when I throw my son out, and NSPCC) but today a famous face was collecting outside the newsagent so I put a £1 in just so that I could say Geoffrey Palmer stuck one on me ( a sticker that is)

My wife Ann has always said that when her children get to 16, she will give them each a suitcase for their birthday presents!

I object quite strongly to the fact that you can't go shopping without running the gauntlet of people collecting for charity.

Here is the odd part though. Since getting stuck in a wheelchair, nobody stops me with their money buckets anymore!

I once came out of a store in a shopping centre carrying a large box (just before Christmas) and walked into a guy in a wheelchair, I asked if I could borrow his wheels, he said if he could have my legs, being rather proud of my legs I didn't swap.

I would have offered you a lift as long as you don't mind my lap

But I do really dislike all the charity collectors down high streets. Exeter was the worst - on a Saturday, I once counted 18 collectors!

Ooops sorry folks. The ones that flash their ID as if that makes all the difference are the ones that kill me.

Charity collectors on the street annoy me. I give to selected charities (cant afford to give to every single one!) so dont want to be accosted by everyone.

Portsmouth is pretty bad too - the last thing you want when you nip out for your lunch break is to be zig zagging across the street to avoid them

No offence to anyone but Pompey really is a sh*th*le. Gunwharf is OK as are parts of Old Portsmouth but I can't think of anywhere else that has any redeeming features
