Mallett's Malet - can we prune the majority of it?

Please vote - aim will be to leave the beginning page in, then remove the middle few hundred pages, leaving the last couple in...
Votes by end of today please - and I may get round to doing it tonight if the vote is YES!

I voted YES, since if pruning HAS to be done it is the logical and least damaging thread to attack, but as it as apparently my most active topic I suspect I'll lose my buttons

The best things about this topic is following the connections - I read it more that I post on it.
Of all the drivel we post, I think this is one of the most interesting topics... but if it has to go, so be it... I can see why, it is long.
For the record (I suspect in forum-speak that might be FTR) it is NOT my most active topic!!

Same here, and we`re not the only ones!! ( but then some would consider Malletts to be an easy way of gaining posts....)

I voted 'No'. I don't really care for the thread, but I'm wary of getting into the pruning habit.

Surely if you know you are posting in a thread that's going to be pruned that's ok? It may even help one to be fairly relaxed about what one says and may encourage some posters to post there.

Absolutely, if the posters know in advance that the thread won't be archived. Perhaps we should have an area where posts expire after a time.
But that's different from going into a forum that's ordinarily archived, and deciding after the fact that some threads don't deserve to be kept. It may be obvious where to start, but it's less clear where to stop.

mallets mallet will soon recreate itself - and i don't think it will remove our buttons or whatever status! For goodness sake - it's one word that takes up an entire post with your details - in no time at all we will be back here debating about pruning it all over again! Plus we might get some different words this time as many of the same words have been written time and time again!
It's not like removing how your life at CH was!
Julian a RESOUNDING YES from me - prune it right back - like any bush it will soon regrow!

ok, if it's really necessary to remove something from the site, I suppose it's the obvious choice (along with the relatively new, ABC topic).
but I think we need to know what the point of removing it is and what the other options are, before just agreeing to it
don't get me wrong, this site is Julian's and he can legitimately do what he likes with it, but since he asked...
