Apologies - I know this has been mentioned elsewhere but I wanted to remind everyone this is happening.

Details:
ANNUAL CAROL CONCERT ON WEDNESDAY, 13TH DECEMBER
at 6.00pm in The Church of St. Sepulchre-Without-Newgate
City of London
Weblink: http://www.chassociation.org/events/car ... rt2006.php

Zoe is asking for singers and musicians. Rehearsal starts at 4.30pm. Come on - I know many of you can rustle up a passable rendition of Hail Gladdening Light and it won't even be that bad so please sign up...it would be nice to put names to faces.

I put my name down for singing duty and found I was listed as 'Sporano'. Not sure what that entails...(!)

Me too! Tenor, with Mr Plum!
Sybil: If I find out that money was yours you know what I'll do Basil.
Basil: You'll have to sew them back on first.

It's an Italian version of a Scottish purse.

RE: "Sporano"
Mea culpa, I'll get the typo fixed next time I update the site.
And I'll write my lines 100 times:
More haste, less speed.....

Thanks to everyone who's volunteered so far, I'm still getting regular enquiries so we should have a fabulous choir by 13th December.

I have asked the beloved daughter if she will join the choir with me and she said no, so one very good (and one not so good) alto in the audience but not in the choir I am afraid.

Sorry Zoe - it wasn't a dig.
Glad to see people coming - thought the only recogniseable face would be RP....any idea as to what we're singing? I was joking about Hail Gladdening incidentally.

No problem.
You should have got an email today with all the information about the songs you'll be singing, but let me know if you need anything else.

Hello Fellow Forum Members!
This is the attachment to the e mail Zoe has sent out to people who have signed up for the choir (sorry the formatting has gone wonky, so I have tailored it a bit)

People are invited to let me know if they would like a copy of this or that (or even this and that...), under the circumstances detailed below re. copyright. I will send copies if you can send me an s.a.e. to do so....

MUSIC TO BE COPIED TO CHOIR MEMBERS, AS THEY REQUIRE

NB – not everyone will want everything. Indeed some people may not need anything.

Where people have their own copies of the various books from which the music is drawn, they are invited to bring them. Otherwise Adrian will be providing copies of CFC Book 1 and ‘Tomorrow Shall be My Dancing Day’ on the night. The music which is asterisked below would be covered by copyright and therefore any photocopies to be provided will be for personal practice only.

1* God rest you merry, Gentlemen (Carol to be sung by all) Carols For Choirs Book 1 I'll copy pages 30-31, which contain the Descant for last verse. Likely to be wanted by Sopranos

2 Eastern Monarchs, Sages Three (Carol to be sung by all) The Christ’s Hospital Hymnbook Hymn No. 57 I'll copy the whole thing - music and words. Likely to be wanted by Hertford Old Blues (it is very well known to Horsham Old Blues)

3 ‘For Unto Us A Child is Born’ (First Choir item) Handel’s Messiah Pages 46-55 of Kerren’s own ancient copy (please ignore pencil marks!) Likely to be wanted by probably no-one…. most choral singers will have a copy of The Messiah. Adrian is not worried about different arrangements.

4* O Little Town of Bethlehem (Carol to be sung by all) Carols for Choirs Book 1. I'll copy Page 93 which contains the Descant for last verse. Likely to be wantd by Sopranos

5* Tomorrow Shall be My Dancing Day (arranged John Gardner) (Second Choir item) Sheet music I'll copy the entire piece. Likely to be wanted by anyone who does not know this arrangement (To-morrow shall be-e my-y dan-cing day.....)

6 The Twelve Days of Christmas (to be sung by everyone…in different ways) No music provided. Everyone knows it.. and it will be sung in an ‘unusual’ way, anyway…… Words will be in the programme

7* Hark, the Herald Angels Sing (Carol to be sung by all) Carols for Choirs Book 1. I'll copy pages 40-41 which contain the descant for the last verse. Likely to be wanted by Sopranos

8* We Wish you a Merry Christmas (arranged Arthur Warrell) (Choir to sing to the congregation, as a Finale) Carols for Choirs Book 1. I'll copy the whole thing - pages 60-67. Likely to be wanted by anyone who does not know this arrangement (we sang it last year - it gets faster and faster....)

It'll be good to see so many people again from last year, to meet people I now know through the Forum - and to see new people.... This is taking off!

Are the words for all of them going to be in the programme?

If not I will require Eastern Monarchs Sages three.

I am not in the choir, too rusty.

Wish I could be with you, but I am speaking at two meetings that day in North Wales!
