The infamous car park bogs

Who remembers the car park bogs ?

Now sadly departed (covered in Portakabins the last time I was there) ?

It always amazed me they were ever built - out door loos, no doors.

Did anyone ever use them for anything other than smoking ?

I can't believe anyone ever did a number two in one !

The only useful thing I ever got from them was a (probably highly contagious) bacterial sample that I grew on agar jelly as part of a biology project. This probably rated as one of the most unwttingly stupid things I have ever done with micro-organisms, second only to having Anthrax fights (I kid you not) in post pub biology practicals at University.

The joys of youth.

I remember them well and only once experienced a no.2 there. Pure desperation mind.

The best thing that I can remember was carrying out my fire service training for my Duke of Edinburgh medal in the car park. We had to run out a fire hose and then connect it to the fire hydrant.
The best part was then turning the water on and directing it into the bogs. It was probably the best cleaning they ever had. Its hard to imagine the actual flow of water. We also tried to clean a car there as well but thought it prudent to stop when the sheer volume of water was causing the roof to buckle (it did go back honest)

I don't think that even when I was at CH in the 90's, those toilets were ever used for their intended purpose...

even then you kept 100 yards upwind at all times! Lagos and Accra open sewers were fragrant by comparison.
Given that nobody would go near them I cannot understand how they could be caused to smell like that.

It was called 'The Pagoda' in my day... did that name carry on to the end?

I don't recall it being called that...

I think most of it may have been storage towards the end...
