I am proud to announce that McDonalds here in Tavistock has upped sticks and b*ggered off. The town has won various 'good food' awards and has a thriving farmers' market with shops and eateries selling locally produced food. Apparently business at Maccie D's was sinking under the weight of organic cheese and homemade pasties, so within days of the announcement in the newspaper they shut shop and cleared off.

, not.

Our local one closed about 6 months ago too, I think for much the same reason as the one in Tavistock. Also all the kids who worked'backstage' told their mates (who told their mates) what it was like!!! :vom:

Forgetting all the organic stuff, we avoid McDonalds like the plague - flat rolls, skinny meat with other stuff which simply doesn't taste much to us.

By comparison Burger King are better on all those counts (not that I consider either that healthy).

OTOH McDonalds in Pamier look inviting, have salads and fresh fruit on display - burgers are almost a sideline and are far better on those counts (our nearest Burger King that I know of is 2 hours away in Andorra le Vella.)

As for the so-called coke - what we get in England tastes nothing like what they have in Florida where it seems to have half the added water.

Just perhaps peeps over here are becoming more diet sensible at last.
