Best Road Advice

Who do you think is the best for road advice in bad weather? Tomorrow I am booked to speak at TWO meetings in the Wirral, about 80 miles from home. (Coffee morning and lunchtime) In normal weather I would be leaving at 07.30. There is a notorious hill on the A55 which gets snow blocked, and I want to check before I leave home.

I cannot go tonight as I am speaking at Bangor tonight. This is my most intensive time in my diary for my whole year with 3 presentations in less than 24 hours - why does the snow come now?

Any advice on phone numbers or websites I could contact tomorrow would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hope your journey goes well Katharine.

As I type, very frosty but no snow, so we're off to Horsham for some shopping, followed by a jar or three with a couple of forum posters !

Yumeeee !

Katharine,
Not exactly what you are looking for... but I find this Met Forcasting site very useful for everyday use and travel.

http://www.eurometeo.com/english/forecast/city_EGLF

It is set up for Farnborough which is the nearest location to me.
If you click on the 'UNITED KINGDOM' name (below the word Farnborough) you can then select the location nearest to you, or your destination.
John.

The best websites to look at will be the met office website (http://www.metoffice.gov.uk) and NetWeather (http://www.netweather.tv) - I'm a regular poster on that site...

It looks like it may not hit north Wales / Wirral area until later on in the day and the snow by that stage may not amount to much...

I usually check the bbc website.

Daughter has an interview in Liverpool tomorrow. In the summer it took us 4 hours so we are going to drive up tonight and stay nearby. I have warned them at work we may not get back hehe.

Thanks for the various links. I will check everything very thoroughly tomorrow morning and then decide what to do.

Decision made - I am still at home. We both decided it just wasn't worth it. Snow and wind here - I will go into work soon when I have contacted the Clubs to say that I won't be there.

If they have not got a speaker booked for next month, I could go then. In April I am going to Southport for the evening on the second Thursday so it could be Wirral for coffee, Ellesmere Port for lunch and Southport for dinner

We had no problems whatsoever.

On the road 4 hours up and 4 hours back. (210 miles)

this might be quite good for advice, and a good laugh.

Google will probably find this out and fix it pretty quickly.

How do people find this stuff?

Follow these steps [in order of course]

1. go to http://www.google.co.uk

2. click on maps

3. click on get directions

4. go from "new york" to "london, england "

5. scroll down in the directions to number 24

6. laugh and then re-post this ASAP so other people can enjoy

Can't find No 24.

Though the map seems to say you've got to go via France !
