I'm with Billy Connolly on this, and would vote to change the national anthem to The Archer's theme tune. Imagine 82,000 rugby fans at Twickers singing "dum dee dum dee dum dee dum, dum dee dum dee dah dah; dum dee dum dee dum dee dum, dum dee diddly dum; dum dee diddly, dum dee diddly, dum dee diddly dum; dum dee dum dee dum dee dum, dum dee diddly dum".

I suppose Land of Hope and Glory is OK, but I'd prefer Jerusalem.

I wonder what Fiona would pick ?

i have thought this for a while, God Save the Queen is the anthem for the UK
Scotland have flower of Scotland for when the play as Scotland so why cant we have land of hope and glory?

Isn't "Jerusalem" ( which is a wonderful bellowing hymn) already the anthem for a football team ?

No-one has mentioned " Rule Britannia " yet - or is it just a trifle too nationalistic

AIUI Jerusalem is what keeps the Womens Institute on their feet, and as for Rule Brittannia being nationalistic, what other country is not nationalistic? I think we have a long way to go to catch up with the USA, France, Germany ......

( bet the spanish hymn is just as bad, but can never remember the words - nobody sings them anyway !)
