Do you believe in complete devolution and even independence for all 4 parts of the UK or do you think we should remain one country and keep everything in London? Or somewhere in between?

I read a book some time ago called "The Global Paradox", which included discussion about the fact that as the world economy gets larger, the component nation players become smaller and smaller.
It seems to me that at heart we are all fairly tribal and within large frameworks such as the EU or the USA, small can be better for the man on the street.

I think divide, for a couple of reasons

Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish MP's can vote for whats happening in England, but England MP's cannot vote in say the Welsh Assembly or the Scottish Parliarment

What about the Idea of having say Queeny at the top, an overseeing PM/ President and a leading member of each assembly reporting to the overseeing person?

It hurts me dearly to say this, get rid of the house of lords, fill it with members from Each Assembly (overseeing Cabinet as it were) to discuss issues arising that will effect all nations. Almost like an EU System just for the UK

If each nation wants to be divided though, then i would also make them financially independant.

Oh yeah! Well I'm from England and British, though ALSO European - as we all are of course. We're not North American, and Britain isn't its own continent, so we are European, though of course that isn't our nationality.

A quarter Scottish? So what is that then? Celt, Angle, Saxon, Norman, a mixture? I was born in England (which was as much and accident as my son-in-law being born in Uganda - his parents were working there at the time.) but does that necessarily make me English?

FWIW a male ancestor of the Laird of Clan Fraser is said to come from somewhere in the Jutland area via Normandy and a lot of Yorkshire klanguage is straight out of the Norwegian dictionary.

I suggest that it is extremely difficult to prove that anyone is English by blood. Indeed they reckon that most if not all females are descended from one of four African women. Which one do you come from Amy?

I'm quite happy being English and British, and I also consider myself to be European, culturally as well as by accident of geography.

My family history research so far suggests that I am seven eighths English and one eighth Welsh.

I'll admit to being British on that basis.

I do not see myself as European although I enjoy certain aspects of the continental European lifestyle. In the same way I enjoy some aspects of the West Indian lifestyle. That does not make me West Indian though!

I don't know why people are so down on being European. Britain is such a mongrel nation that European is probably the most appropriate description for most people. That said however, recent studies have been showing that a lot of 'white Europeans' are able to trace their genetic ancestry back to the Middle East, Asia or even Africa. try this link for more info

So really, none of you know what you really are. I find it slightly amusing to think that some of you may be of very different origin....
