Happy Birthday Jenny - I'm so glad you found us after DR's service. Your letters from the distant past have been most welcome reading, Thank you.

Thank you, Caroline and Katharine. I intend to have a great day, whatever happens! Dentist appointment at 10.0 - only a check-up, so nothing to dread. Then visiting a florist to organise flowers for a beloved friend's funeral - she died last Thursday at the age of 49 - the florist is also an old friend who recently made a dramatic career change, so the sad reason for the visit will be softened by some cheery gossip. Also have to sort out (cheap) German-speaking solicitor to assist deceased friend's mother, arriving from Germany today and do annual accounts for an organisation for which I'm treasurer. Oh joy!

Evening will be spent in my favourite curry house with various friends arriving at varying times following work, meetings, parental duties etc. Ages range from 14 to 73 and I anticipate much fun and laughter.

One friend has already delivered a parcel of books so I'll have plenty to read in between the other activities!

P.S. How do all you clever people know when it's someone's birthday? I'm sure there must be a clue somewhere, but I'm obviously looking in the wrong place!

Like others have said I really enjoy your letters.

Had a lovely, if exhausting day, thank you everyone. Achieved most of what was essential, though flat looks as if it's been occupied by squatters!
