In the delightful kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the company of whose monarch we have recently enjoyed as an honoured guest, and which is about to deliver corporal punishment to a women for the crime of being gang-raped, I believe that the births of female children are still not recorded. Not only do they not exist officially, they remain the chattels of their fathers until they marry when they become the possessions of their husbands. So, I would suggest that it is pretty fair to assess that they do not have any rights, at least not as we would recognise them in the West. Of course, there are some who might suggest that we are wrong to impose our Western values on another, completely different culture. I would simply have to disagree!
