Many Happy Returns, Kerren.
I hope you manage to mark the occasion in some style!

At last the day has come!! You are now officially a Senior Citizen or whatever the current euphemism is but if you are anything like me, you don't feel that inside!
Hope you have a great time and don't work too hard on the party! Do remember me to anyone who remembers me - especially Clare.

A very happy birthday. Take lots of pictures at the party and post them so we can enjoy it vicariously.

AArrgghh!
Thank you all! It's a very 'discreet' and subdued sort of day (I don't think.....). I came to work to find my office bulging with balloons saying '60' and I am now wearing a huge flashing badge. Just had a cake party about 30 University colleagues, and going to have another one with a further 20 at our other campus, this afternoon. So no danger of getting much work done today. Then I'm off for four days - two to prepare for the big bash on Saturday (yes Munch I think it's going to be a riot.....!) and two to recover afterwards!
Not sure about putting photos up on the Forum, Mary....(!)
Love to all from the newest OAP on the Forum!

I forgot to say that when I got to the University coffee bar for my cake party, I found blown up copies of the CH Hertford Hockey Team of 1965-66 splashed all over the place, and one standing up in a silver frame! Our Head of PE had met up some time ago with the person who was Head of PE at Hertford in my last year (Jill Westthorpe) - who subsequently became an HMI and then OfSTED inspector, and she had given it to him (sadly she died very suddenly, last summer). My department made people identify which one was me, before they could have their piece of cake! It was all very embarrassing!!!! Funnily enough, half the people in that photo are going to be here on Saturday....

OK Katharine (and THANK YOU for the card, by the way. It is beautiful, and I shall treasure it....)
Back row :
Stella Sulston, Sue Evans*, Mary Dellor, Christine Barnett*, Philippa Yorke, Heather Wansey*
Front row :
Viv Walker*, Mary Bennett, Kerren Simmonds*, Jean MacArthur, Susan Flood
The five asterisked (along with probably another 12 Hertford Old Blues) will be there on Saturday, at my celebrations. This must be some sort of record!
Thank you again, everyone, for your good wishes. It has been a great day - and I am looking forward to having lots of fun over the weekend, supported by many CH friends.
