Help a hero Marine Joe Townsend

Post by englishangel »

http://www.wealden.gov.uk/council/media ... ement.aspx

The background is that this young man lost both legs in Helmand over year ago (many Google hits for him) and an architect has drawn up plans for an adapted bungalow in his grand-parents back garden with no objections from any neighbour.

His Facebook support page has nearly 120,000 members since 28th January and the petition has nearly 4000 signatures.

I read about this in the papers Mary, and was absolutely furious !

Are we sure No 10's sites are still operative ? I have also read that our illustrious (alleged) leader, Mr GB has ordered them all to be closed.

I'M not surprised that GB which does NOT stand for Great Britain (Read that how you will ) is to close any further opportunity of the People to get their view across !
As an Ex Soldier, my views on the treatment, or lack of it, of our Servicemen, after leaving Hospital, is well known -- see other Posts on other sites.
This syndrome is not new ----- Read Kipling's poem "Tommy" -- I quote but two lines -- :(

It's "Tommy this and Tommy that", and "Chuck him out the door ! -"---
But it's "Thin red line of 'eros!" when the guns begin to roar !

You've only got to look at what the Tory dominated Mole Valley District Council tried to do when the fabulous Headley Court applied for planning permission to renovate a house in Ashtead, near Leatherhead, for families staying over on visits to their wounded relatives receiving treatment.

It is brilliant news, but permission shouldn't have been refused in the first place!

ALSO ---Have you seen the hypocrisy of the senior Politicians NOW saying how much they deplore the original decision -- Talk about jumping on the Bandwagon ! !

Mmm, I do wonder whether, if there hadn't been such a huge public outcry and petition, the original decision would have been upheld. I'm sure the family concerned had exhaused all the normal channels of appeal before we even heard about it! It really annoys me when politicians appear to try to gain 'brownie points' with the voting public!
