So....it that time of year again when all those who werent very pariotic suddenly become so. I watched the England v Italy highlights and although we did manage to score some tries and we did seem to string a few passes together...it did lack something! Also Italy were bad but didnt look that bad because we werent that great.
Best bit....Harry Ellis coming back in at the last minute and putting on a fine display (which seeing as he has only just completed a 6week ban and prior to that injured-is amazing)!
The Ireland v France match was brilliant-well done Ireland!
Now hears hoping the Scots beat the Welsh!

I fear for our chances against the Sheep Botherers next week.

Methinks Brian Moore had it right when he said that the paying public should demand a refund.
The law tinkerers have just about made the 2009 version of Rugby Union the most dull in my lifetime - everyone strung out across the pitch and endless forwards bashing into each other has made the game a mixed parody of Rugby League and American Football.
Shame on the "pattern/method/nth phase men". Bring back freedom of expression and a sense of the true values of a game.

I presume that you are referring to the match that will be taking place in the Millennium Stadium? Perhaps you would do well to remember that not everyone on this forum supports the same team as you, but then given your choice of Avatar you probably know that already!

Very good Katharine!
Yes I am used to being something of a solitary figure when it comes to Charlton Athletic although on this forum the esteemed editor of The Old Blue is similarly afflicted.
I actually love Wales and most of the people I've met there.
I have discovered that I am in fact an eighth Welsh myself (a great grandmother came from a farm in the middle of nowhere in Cardiganshire or Ceredigan as I should probably say now). Many years ago I spent the best part of a year working on secondment in Barry (now famous for the comedy Gavin and Stacey), played some rugby down there and have had many holidays all over Wales.

The Ireland/French match was a corker. Full of running rugby and a plethora of tries. This is what it should be about.
The last minutes of Wales/Scotland produced some great running too and the Scots squeezed in a very late try but still fell short.
It will be a Wales/Ireland decider on March 15th I think

No need to - the standard of the England / Italy affair put me off my beer.
If the other nations are silly enough to play a back row forward at scrum half then we may be in
with a shout, but I can't see it, somehow.
One day England may play as a team again, but not by Saturday, I fear.
At least the Irish and the French produced some good rugby.............

I'm all right then, with an Irish mother and living in Wales I can legitimately support the winning side! Although rugby is mainly played in the south of Wales, the is passionately followed here by many of our friends.

Katherine, Katherine -- Lighten up ! and I don't mean the Fuze !
Rugby players insult each other with enthusiasm and no Malice, they also knock faeces out of each other, on the pitch, also without Malice. Even at CH, if somebody bit my ear in a loose scrum, I would ,surreptitiously, thump him later in the game. I would never, ever, brood on the matter -- end of game --end of hostilities !
I regret that the GAME is descending into a plethora of new laws and Political Correctness,, Very soon we shall have the singing of "Eskimo Nell" in the get-together, after the match, banned--- as an infringement of the rights of the Inuuit People !
I forsee a Post requesting the words of Eskimo Nell for inspection by the Moderators

Neill, there isn't a tongue in cheek smiley - I looked for it before posting. I think Andy took my post in the spirit it was intended. I just don't like the assumption that we will all be supporting the same team in the 6 nations.
By the way, I try to do you the courtesy of spelling your Christian name as you do, I would appreciate it if you could repay that courtesy.
