I believe Jackie was Hazel's daughter, but I may be wrong - Kerren would probably know.

Just possible if Hazel had her in her late 30s/40s

Yes, Jackie is Hazel's daughter. Can't remember when I last saw them (? DR's memorial service, or the last 'Hertford' bash at Horsham). Jackie is still, I think, the organiser of 'Old 3's' but I guess she is not doing very much since marrying a baker, getting involved in the bakery and then producing twin sons who must now be 2-3.
I have copies of all the books mentioned....and am grateful that the sequence of people to whom I lent 'Half to Remember' did send it back!

PS - Hazel's book was produced by her herself. It's called 'vanity publishing'.

I think all that bread and dripping caused super-ovulation

Seriously, well-fed older mothers are statistically more likely to have fraternal twins.

I was nearly 35 when I had mine.

I'm the (v proud) godmother of a 22 year old male, who has a non-identical twin brother - they are sons of a Hertford Old Blue. It is her second family (having been widowed) so she must have been in her late 30's, and indeed 'well fed'. Having said that, her husband is a twin.....

Don't tell my girls about the twins - Maria has two children born when she was (I think) 36 and 40. Kirri is about to have her first at 36 - no suggestion that it is twins - phew! And my mother-in-law is a twin (she says a triplet, but records refute it); also there are several sets of twins in my mother's family. Thankfully whatever they put in the water at Hertford has managed to bypass our family! My sister-in-law was told at one point that she was having triplets, but it turned out to be one pefectly normal sized boy who had obviously moved during the scan!

My husband is also a twin, but he is identical.

It's all down to 'squeezing-em' both at the crucial moment, allegedly !
