R.I.P. Mollie Sugden
Slightly belated, I know. She died in the Royal Surrey Hospital, Guildford.
She lived just south of Dorking in Ockley then on to Forest Green and many's the time in the past we rubbed shoulders in Waitrose or the post-office. She usually had her actor husband in tow, and I MEAN in tow. William Moore - Timothy Lumsden's, (Ronnie Corbett) dad in that great BBC comedy, 'Sorry !'
Mollie was the proud owner of a Porsche Carrera which she rarely drove above 50 m.p.h.
How I loved her 'Pussy' innuendos in 'Are You Being Served ?'
Rest peacefully, dear Mollie.

Because she was once clocked doing 92, and thereafter was more carefulJ.R. wrote:Slightly belated, I know. She died in the Royal Surrey Hospital, Guildford.

I feel she was , generally, underestimated , by the Public --- as an ACTRESS !
She was absolutely brilliant, in so many roles ---Are you being ? Corrie , Bread, the list goes on and on
In each, she played the Part with her particular emphasis on the CHARACTER --- which is the sign of an Actor who has studied the Writing and gets to the core of the Part !
I think that with a few others, she will be fondly remembered.

There is a tribute on BBC2 7.30pm Saturday 18th July, only 3/4 of an hour though, hardly seems long enough. Perhaps we can look forward to some reruns.

I quite agree, Mary !
I'll NEVER forget her berating, in that stern voice of hers, a 'jobs-worth' Post Office counter clerk in Dorking who had somehow seemed to have temporarily mis-laid some of her and Williams paperwork when she was renewing their passports.
It made me just so proud to be British. Not one word of abuse, but rest assured, everyone in the post office got the message loud and clear !
