Mine has just been delivered but I haven't had a chance to look at it yet.

I notice the front cover photo is of the Old Blues day.

Can anyone put names to faces ?

Opened for a quick glance - attention caught by the obituary of John Ddungu.

What a marvellous, accomplished and handsome boy. How tragic to die so young. I could hardly bear to read this. How he must be mourned by everybody who knew him, and what a deprivation - I'm unable to imagine what he would have accomplished, but he seemed to be gifted in every way.

A terrible loss.

Munch I've had that one from both sides - as I was at LMH, his college at Oxford. They obviously thought a lot of him too.

Now I've had a chance to read it.

I was shocked to find an obit for my mothers second cousin, Dick Doyle.

I'll be contacting JH later for contact details.

I just do wish that ALL the older reunion photographs had a key. Without that, printing a group photo of people who looked rather different 55 years ago (particularly the whiskery ones) is pretty pointless. Wven where there isn't a photo, please can there be a roll of all those who came to any reported reunion? It is always interesting to discover that Snodgrass had fetched up in Utter Begrubbia, even if one didn't like him much (turns to the obituaries, bound to be someone I know there).

I just checked the CHA website and it publishes a list of thoes sxpected to attend, before the event, but not one of those who attended, though there are photos.

Having said that, I was in Dublin over the weekend and had lunch with Kayinbaja who is at the moment KayinDublin, and after a few minutes I realised that she hadn't changed much at all in 39 years, a few wrinkles (haven't we all?) but basically the same face.

Although I enjoy editing the Remembering section, one of the things I like least is having to cut the submissions down - in some cases substantially - to keep the whole section to a reasonable limit. It was already longer this time than usual. I too was struck by John Ddungu, and by Damian Scanlan, and a number of others who have died very prematurely.

I have not had mine yet, but then who knows when it may come, the post man seems to go days not coming then we get a lump of post on 1 day

I think you've done an excellent job Jo.

Given the sensitive nature of the subject matter anxiety is an entirely understandable emotion for any editor to feel when reducing submissions.

However I think something of the individual personality comes through in all cases which is the function of an obituary in my opinion.

top left piccy is the 20 year reunion I was at and there isn't even a write up in the mag.

Agreed a key or even just list of those present would help
