Ditto Ditto Ditto.. and good to hear from Michele. Hope Louise is going to have a Happy and HEALTHY New Year, and will get back to swimming soon.
Just one question, why do I feel totally spaced out today? I went to a NYE Dinner Party last night, got home about 2.30 but throughout the whole evening only drank half a small glass of white wine, and had a few sips of fizzy wine at midnight (I was driving home)? I got up for brunch about 11.30, then went back to bed with my book and, soon, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I didn't wake up again until 4.00. In three days' time I am back at work!
Maybe I am getting too old for this overnight lark!
Did anyone see the fireworks from London at midnight? We turned on the TV to get the time right, and were totally mesmerized and gobsmacked by their excellence. I imagine however that the cost must have been daunting....

And likewise from me too.
Kerren, we just about saw the fireworks and they looked spectacular but we were rather disappointed they were so low in the sky and you really needed to be close to the Eye to see them. We were on Blackfriars Bridge, having waiting an hour in the freezing cold, and I rather wished we hadn't bothered in the end. If we went again, I'd be aiming to get a lot closer to Waterloo Bridge but I imagine it would be heaving and goodness knows what time you'd need to be there to get a good position.
We had gone up to London to join some friends at the Viennese Gala concert at the Barbican, and having treated ourselves to a night in the Malmaison near the Barbican (more than I have ever spent on a hotel room in my life - could have got three nights normally for that sort of price but it was very nice and we had a mini-suite

) the fireworks were a last minute decision. So at least I didn't feel it was a totally wasted journey.
Got home today to find that we had missed a New Year'd Day parade between Piccadilly and Parliament St - it's happened on New Year's Day for the past 24 years but it was the first time I'd heard of it

). Still I'm not sure I'd have wanted any more standing around and I gather that was heaving too so we probably wouldn't have seen much.

Fizzy white or fizzy red?
I swear that I am still recovering from the one small glass of fizzy red that I drank several years ago ....................................

It was white, Caroline..... and today I have gone down with a headache and cold, so maybe yesterday's lethargy was nothing to do with what I did or didn't drink!
Sorry you found the fireworks low in the sky, Jo......of course one couldn't tell that from the TV pictures. Though perhaps there might have been a clue in the shots of crowds of people, holding mobile phone cameras above their heads....
We reckoned it might have been a rehearsal for the Olympics.....
